Want to Buy Gold Bullion - 15k worth

Greetings all;

I fear the dollar is going to go right down the toilet here pretty quick, so, I've cashed in my CD and want to replace it with some gold bullion, about 15k worth. What would you all suggest someone should buy if they just simply want to assure that their 15k . . . stays worth 15k . . . or at least, what would be the best safest to buy or the safeset way to insure that my 15k won't drop. Please don't say a bank, I couldn't get my money out of there fast enough. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I'd wait on the Gold. WAIT.

I have used them frequently but would lose the number for a while.

Enuf to wait. Look at it this way. Even if we run to 630 we will come back to here minimum. You'll get a chance to buy low 500's if you wait.

I would buy a couple ounces right now just to establish a dealer, get your feet wet, and to understand what it is like to feel a pure gold coin in your hand. Once you do this you will have a better understanding of why the US dollar will one day be worthless, why gold is rising in price, and you will be more confident to make a larger purchase later.

I'd try http://www.coloradogold.com

or http://www.golddealer.com/bullionpage.html

and for each ounce of gold I'd buy 50 ounces of gold, pilgrim.

That way you'd be covered either way.

In three and half years with this new jerk in control I can see a doubling of M3
to 21 TRILLION and we'd never know it because next month it's like L.A. Convidential - HUSH, HUSH, a big secret!

Cause, I want ya to be safe and not lose half the buyin' power - I'd mosey along and find a safe place for your horse and your stash.

Try a floor safe and buy a trusty six-shooter so you can protect the miss's.

From the DUKE to you.

I see you're playing the avatar/ voice up?!

Mark, in answer to your original question, you could buy 3 pre '33 double eagles from me.....Maybe I could rape you as bad as Swiss America raped me. :puke: :bawling: :bath: :puke:

If you are purchasing physical Au, consider paying with less than 10K per purchase. Money laundering laws being what they are now, the coin shop has to report cash deals over 10k. I have heard that amounts around 5k raise no eyebrows on goild coin purchases, especially if done over a period of 11 days.

Very good point Worldmariner.

You should do a small buy with one or two dealers to see how it all works, and keep the deals under the $10k mark to avoid reporting requirements. I have heard the $3k mark mentioned as well, but can not confirm.

As far as timing goes, that is up to the individual. Most here are market bulls, and believe in the mid to long term we are at a very low point. Many, or even most here, are even more bullish on silver, me included. You may want to augment a little of your stash to silver too.

Welcome!

-Ignore chatroom advice on timing.
-Comparison-shop dealers by making token purchases.
-Buy bullion coins only for cash without paperwork.
-If you don't hold it you don't own it. Always take immediate delivery.
-Don't tell anyone.

Safest thing to do, IMHO, is dollar average in at three different bullion dealers.

Roughly 5K per dealer - over three months - 1666 per month per dealer, three dealers, roughly 3 oz per month per dealer. In three months you own roughly 26/27 oz of Au.

Safest because you don't have all your eggs in one basket, you're spreading the money around.

I do think the market is due for a correction. I don't think anybody can say with 100% certainty that the market will or won't drop. So no way to ensure that your 15K won't drop.

While I do think a correction is due/overdue, I'm simply buying when I can get the cash, not buying when I don't have.

Yeah, seriously... I don't know about low 500s either.... Much safer to just get a position now.

Well, I did finally take a plunge . . . I bought 10k (just under) worth of Krugers. Wow, what a feeling . . . GOLD, nothing like it! It was a nice transaction too, he asked no questions, BS'd a little and in the end, the receipt says my name . . . "CASH."

At any event, I'm really not too concerned withn the roller coaster ride of the gold market . . . I figure, at its worst, GOLD will never be at the dollars worst and now, I actaually own something as opposed to what a dollar says.

The Federal Reserve . . . nothing "Federal" about it and subect to tyrants whims!

Re: Want to Buy Gold Bullion - 15k worth

I totally agree with Worldmariner...

If you want to buy that large amount of gold, After $10K, Its going to raise red flags with the IRS and the DOJ.

Go to a coin show. There is a lot of cash and carry gold and you can spread that 15k over a couple of dealers as not to raise and red flags

http://www.coinshows.com/
http://www.coinworld.com/News/ShowCalendar.asp

If you decide to go to one

DO YOUR RESEARCH!!! go to online site such as http://www.apmex.com and some of the others that have been listed before my post to research what is out on the market.

And dont buy from the first guy you see with the shiny stuff either. You want to walk around the whole show, ask prices, then after youve asked everyone you want to ask, then go back and see who will give you the best price. Dont tell them how much you have to spend either.

I would stay away from numismatic stuff such as graded slabbed anything As if you are looking to invest in PMs you will want to buy bullion. Stick with U.S. Gold Eagles, Canadian Maple Leafs that kind of stuff. Dont get conned into buying some pre 1933 gold coin for thousands of dollars when you can get a lot more gold that is pure for a lot less.

One last recommendation, When you go into any coin show, know the spot price of what you are buying.

Good luck!

10K is not required for reporting if paid by check or Wire...

Re: Want to Buy Gold Bullion - 15k worth

If you are dropping 15k at a coin show somebody patying attention is bound to notice. I'm not talking about .gov I'm talking about criminals.

Anytime I plan on dealing in something someones more than happy to kill you for (basically 1k IMO) I wear body armor and obviously I have my carry weapon with me along with spare mags. I make sure no one sees the car I'm in so they can't get a tag as well. I maybe parinoid, but I know how criminals work. If I was going to rob people, staking our coin shows would be tops on my list. If I was a shady dealer, I'd know who to turn over to my 'associates' to make a late night house call a few months after the purchase as well. Obviously the can't target everyone or the cops would figuer it out eventually. But making a score of 5 and possibly more figures once or twice a year is very tempting and probably not that hard to do.

Trust no one and trust some one even less!

So I've heard

Thats the ticket. I always make sure I say "How much is the CASH price?" I think a few of the dealers I work with rarely if ever 'ring it up'. One once told me after I said that "You don't need a receipt do you?" of course I said no.
:birthday:

I wish I could make more big purchases, but I'm really a small, small fry. One of my dealers has lots of buyers that come in by appointment only before and after biz hours... :wazzup_sg

I could care less how many flags are raised. There's nothing to link anything TO ME. CASH is the ultimate privacy tool. Why did I buy so much? So much . . . I couldn't buy enough. As I stated initially . . . my objective is to obtain something REAL and that will remain REAL regardless of what a "dollar" does.

The only research I need to do is finding individuals that will sell me just under 10k worth of eagle, krugs, etc., bullion with no questions asked. I found another "dealer" and am going to purchase another 10k this weekend.

I just can't wait until I can make about 5 more (just under 1ok) purchases.
